Two years ago and mysteriously, we lost our younger dog. My dog. We lost our older dog, his auntie, last March. We've always had cats and dogs at the same time, and they've always done dog-like things, while still being cats. We were also cat-less for the first time--in forever, because my parents had cats before they had us. Not having dog or cat was double the empty feeling- not easy to explain. No reason to go out in the back and play, or just walk around. No reason to get up at a decent hour to feed someone with four legs...and do other things. None of them ever made a lot of noise, but the quiet was deafening. It still is if I think too hard.

In 2007 we adopted a cat. This past July was a year since she came to us. She's our guard cat. As independant as she is (not as a cat, just as herself), she comes when she's called, answers when you talk to her, and does some other non-cat type things. Or at least things some people don't think cats can do, because cats--and other 4-legs--are much smarter than some 2-legs give them credit for.

This morning she was sitting in the front window, keeping her eye on things as usual. I bent over to hug her, and her tail started twitching, and her ears went back. At that time, I couldn't see what she was so worked up about. Then she started growling. Movement on the left caught my eye (same color as the fence, so hard to see), and there were two scared deer near the corner of the driveway. She growled some more, and jumped down, running into the other room so she could see better. She stayed there until they disappeared, hopefully going back into the wooded area behind us. I never heard her growl like that before...it wasn't cat-like. She sounded like a small dog. Her job protecting us from the deer done, and her property safe (lol), she followed me into the kitchen to see if she could cute me into giving her a few pieces of cat kibble. I looked her straight in the eye and shook my head; she wasn't going to get me that way. This is a No Aegyo zone.

I gave it to her anyway. =p

Take 2

I needed to post more about them, but didn't want to update the time stamp for the previous entry. Most of the time people won't re-read entries even if they're updated. Like all my gasoo, Take are important to me (I use every chance I get to tell them, too). In the previous entry, I added the link to my mediafire account, where you can find a few of their songs for downloading...but one of the reasons I'm posting this is so that I can leave youtube links, so if you like what you see--maybe you'll download. =D

Some people may wonder why we do these things, when the group really isn't as active right now, especially in Korea. Doesn't really matter where someone is, does it? If you care about them, there always in that thing beating in the middle of your chest. It's really simple: it's one of those four-letter words...one people throw around like it means nothing, since a lot of people change their minds more often than they change their socks. We also want to make up for the ones that have left them, whether it's because they were tired of waiting for 2nd jib, or because they weren't as visible on tv--or because they were 'fans' fighting amongst themselves for the title of best or only fan group...or whatever non-valid excuses they come up with. We don't miss them, and Take can do without them. None of us are 'out of sight, out of mind' types, so we keep going, giving them our support and encouragement.

I also mentioned that Sungjae had started his own business, Wedding Voice. They haven't broken up--but since they are who they are--the need to sing more than they have been. Here is the link to the website (don't be afraid of the pop-ups). Like Sungjae and Seunghee, all the artists who sing are gasoo, including Lee Kyuhoon of Soulstar, another group that doesn't seem to be getting enough attention these days. <_<

http://www.weddingvoice.co.kr/

Someone reading this may want to know why these guys aren't busier performing and making appearences like other groups. The only answer is--we don't know. t__t It's a mystery. -.- And if it's frustrating for us--including what's happened with the 2nd jib--then it's quadrupled for them. =/ They've been in China, where they've gained a lot of notice and popularity--for over three years. They've been concentrating there for so long, Nathan (also known as Seunghyun) is just a decimal point away from being fluent in his 3rd language--Mandarin.

credit for the pictures belongs to the website, lavenderwingz at TAKEforums, and femalegaze. Credit for the About Us translation is Lavy's friend plumblossoms from their Jang Ri In forum, chocolyn.

Here they are at work; credit to femalegaze22 at youtube, and http://www.weddingvoice.co.kr/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RilTRTcCEHM&fmt=18

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyu1VKF6eao&fmt=18

I'M GOING TO UPDATE THIS WITH THE OTHER LINKS LATER ON.

February 11, 2003--February 11, 2009:::Celebrating 6 years with Take!

SIX YEARS. It feels like longer, and at the same time--such a short period of time. Sometimes it feels that way with things you love. I found out about them in my first Korean music forum, solid07. Someone had posted pics of them, similar to the first one, a couple of weeks before their official debut, and because of the way they looked--there were the usual nasty comments about 'just another group of untalented pretty-boys'. I was on their side right away (go, underdogs). A friend had already heard them, and sent it to me. She loved them right away, and said she was sure I would feel the same way-and she was right. Together for years (since 2000)--even while some members were in school--The 5 were finally able to debut. After that, those comments stopped --because with their first stage performance, they'd proven they really were more than something nice to look at.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9bKcJBvh8A&feature=PlayList&p=1C46EF791054303C&index=58

Their debut album, 1st Story, also had songs written by Moon Heejun, and Danny Ahn-- 'Ring', and 'Fly Away'.

While waiting for 2nd jib, rapper Lee Minhyuk decided to leave the group to go after his acting dream--something he'd always wanted--and then he began his military service. A little while after, they released their first single as 4 members. They knew we'd been waiting--for something from them.

Friend and fellow take supporter Lavy worked hard on a timeline for them so instead of reposting everything here, I will post the link to our Take forum--there are more pics, too.

http://www.takeforums.net/index.php?showtopic=1537&pid=17181&st=0&#entry17181

If you've never heard of them and you're curious--I uploaded some of their songs to my mediafire account. Please download. I might add some of their older ones too, since the album isn't available anywhere these days.

http://www.mediafire.com/mythnoona It wasn't even listed in the soompi manga thread yet. Between these three sites, I've found 99.999% of the things I've looked for. If it weren't for them (and most especially --the people that take the time to do the scanlations!), with some of the series--I'd still be waiting a few years for some volumes in English. >< I first started reading Fruits Basket, getting it from the library. I could only go far in the series, because even though later volumes had been released in Japan--the English releases hadn't caught up at the time...but because I was able to read the rest of the series online--until the very end--I didn't have to wait for who knows how long. After I finished it, there was a note from the mangaka, Natsuki Takaya, thanking readers for staying with the story for 7 years. I didn't even know it had been that long. 0_o Over the past few years, our library system has bought more and more manga and manhwa (and some manhua)--because of constant requests from people like me. xD They've bought just about everything I've asked for over the last few years--but of course it's not just me asking for most of them. There's no way I can buy all the ones I like--so I'm really glad to have both things to satiate that hunger. :O Reading online takes more time than reading the books--but this is one of the rare things I sometimes get impatient for...I don't want to wait too long to finish a story.=x I like being caught up, and many times--as with Nodame Cantabile and xxxHolic--also able to read the current chapters at the same time as Japanese fans.

more later.

The Weather, part II.

Two days after I posted about the snow, we finally got the 'warmer' (more normal) temps--which made different problems for some people--avalanches in the mountain passes, mudslides (including whole houses slipping down hills)--and massive flooding. Not only was there a lot of rain--but the water from the melting snow.

Normal:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjL_Ctgo0LM&feature=related Friends in Oz want? I know it's frying there--I'll mail you some. lol I was going to show my ajuma in S'pore--but she just got back from Seoul, so I think she might have had enough cold for now. (Their weather is really similar to ours in *this* area of the Pacific Rim, except it's more humid during the Summer there.)

This is not a normal kind of snow for this area. One of our weatherpersons said he had to go back to 1800-something to find something similar. We do get snow, but not like this, all at once--and followed by a windstorm. We got about 3 inches the first day, which froze at night (the coldest night was 7 degrees F--it got to a scorching 20 F during the day. Also not really normal temp). The next day, we had blizzard-like snow--tiny dry stuff, about 5 inches--which was 5 inches everywhere--until the wind hit. [Last winter was bad too--since we lost power for 6 days--the longest time ever for us.] The wind is normal (last year it knocked a tree down), but everyone agreed that this was kind of weird weather. The wind blew for hours and hours--and blew the snow from the bottom of our property to the top--so the closer you got to the front of the house, the higher it was (not just us, but every house on our side of the road). Except of course--where property meets the street. We had at least 3 feet there because of the plow. Seeing what was on the front lawn, there was no way I could even open the garage door--I knew the snow had to be piled up against it. When I had to get the mail, I walked around the side of the house to shovel a path just to get to the front of the garage, but gave up half-way, because it was up to my knees (I'm 5' 4''/ or 163cm). I walked through the shortest bits (only about 6 inches), and saw that it was a good thing we hadn't opened the garage door--because the snow in places--was at least 4 feet hight against it. I shovelled and brushed it away, just to have a small area clear. Didn't shovel in the back at all because we don't have to go out there right now except to feed birds. Fortunately my dad and I went shopping the day before the storm--otherwise we probably would have run out of just about everything. We were stuck 2 weeks, and did pretty well--and we were able to go out again 4 days ago--so if we get stuck again, we're okay food-wise for a few more days. Between yesterday and today, we got about 4 more inches. It looks like someone sprinkled tons of sugar all over everything. Snow can be nice--it smells good--makes everything clean (until the plow comes)--but this amount all at once can make some people nuts. >< It's warming gradually--always takes a little longer to get here because we're a little higher than sea level--so we're a few degrees colder in the Winter--and cooler in Summer--but we're supposedly going to have rain and temps in upper 30's to 40-something--which is a little more normal. Then come the water problems because of the melting snow. This was so bad--even the skiers and snowboarders didn't attempt to get to the ski areas (the mountain passes to which were closed a lot)--people were told to stay home unless they absolutely had to go out--and most people did. A lot of people were stuck in bus stations and airports for a few days because no one could get anywhere.

over a foot on the deck--and between the ends of the railing, there's a 6-inch railroad tie. The wind sculpted the snow just like it was sand in a desert.

front lawn- where the snow looks ripply in front of the bush, it's about 2 inches. On the bushes, it's at least a foot and a half. It might seem to be something very small, but it really does add up. If you're wondering what one 'you' could possibly do--you should know that Freekibble.com was started by a 12 year-old girl. You can read the FAQ at either site.

http://www.thehungersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=1

This is the one I've been going to the longest (along w/ the Rainforest site). Please click on all.
